Got a lot done yesterday! :-)

1) Renovated the setup of the novel pages in the Writings section.

2) Added a new short story, Think of Me Fondly After I'm Gone.

3) Put up new character portraits on the Karavan page and the one for misc. character art.

4) Added some more icons.

5) And today, seeing as it's Monday, a new chapter of Karavan's Mirror is up. This one was a lot of fun to write. *s*

So far I've celebrated the new year by putting up some icons and the Karavan's Mirror Christmas story here, and adding another Moulin Rouge icon to this page.

I haven't done a big "okay, time to seriously renovate everything" website makeover in a while. Might have to do that soon.

Also need to go through my (three or four) files of notes and rearrange everything so I have some idea of what's going on when I start novel-editing.

*reads over entry* Hm. I do have a life outside the computer, honest. Really.

Okay, maybe not.

Had a lazy day yesterday. Chris worked on a puzzle-- the guy's an addict-- while I read him some short stories by William F. Nolan and Jack Ketchum. Then we went out and rented some movies. He hadn't seen any of the Highlander movies in a while but he'd liked the series as a kid, so we rented the second and third ones (nobody had the first) and ohmygoodness. Scenery-chewing and dorky eighties-movie special effects and just so much fun. :-D

In holiday-news, I was thinking about doing that meme where you think up ten things, big or small, that you want and see if anybody sends/makes them for you, but I could only think of two-- fanart for Karavan's Mirror, or donating some money to any of the charities on my sidebar. So instead of scrambling frantically for eight other items to pad the list, have a stocking to fill. *s*

So this has basically been today:

9:00-- Get up. Hear laughter from out on the front porch. Remember that my brother got a pair of BB guns last night. Remind husband and brother to not shoot their eyes out.

12:30-- Go over to mom and dad's for a while. Watch something called Dance of the Dead, based on a Richard Matheson short story.

2:00-- Chris goes to work.

2:15-- Run the dishwasher.

2:20-7:45-- Go through my novel, make sure it's query-sendout worthy.

7:45-8:30-- Discover the wonderfulness of ljseek.com 'images' search, proceed to look up Joaquin Phoenix icons.

5 minutes ago-- "Well, Chris'll be home in a little over an hour, and I've had a productive day. Yay! Feel like I'm forgetting something, though."

Stomach: *GROWL*

"That would be it."

In case anyone's interested, I've updated my DeviantArt gallery with some Moulin Rouge and Firefly icons. Sometime next week I'll add them to my webpage, too. :-)

Got a bunch of icons made today, so I'm proud of myself. :-) And I was going to do something else, I'm sure of it, but then I saw this link and all plans/thoughts/brain cells went poof.

Been busy making icons. :-) Mainly text ones for right now; I'll be experimenting with image ones over the next few days. Here are some samples (with text from Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, A Knight's Tale, and 10 Things I Hate About You).

So far as the icon making goes . . . *pets pretty new text brushes* Granted, I don't know how using them is going to work out, but I'll find out tomorrow or the next day, when I actually try. Right now, I'm still gathering the shiny. ;-)

Went to Chris's parents for Easter, and watched our nephews and neice hunt Easter eggs on the front lawn. :-) By the time we left, it was really hot out and the a.c. in the van is crapped out, so we had the windows down. I got inside and walked by a mirror, and . . . well, imagine a brown string mop, flipped and twisted in ways that show up in a toy poodle's worst nightmare. That was my hair.

In less Medusa-like news, I've been thinking about starting an icons/headers section on my website . . . some from movies, but also some featuring character portrait art (if it's all right with the artists) and novel quotes. So Kath, if you have any ideas about what icons or livejournal headers you'd like to see, bounce them my way-- one with Trader featuring "Desperado" lyrics is already on my list. Heh.

First I have to learn what I'm doing with brushes and fonts and whatnot, though. Wish me luck. :-)

Okay, so I'm not an expert icon maker, but I'm pleased with this new one I just made. :-) I used a portrait of my character Ki'Rana (done by the ladies at Warsheep Productions) and the words on it are from the Big & Rich song posted below . . . Kath sent it to me a while back telling me that it really reminded her of this character, and I very much agreed. :-)
